The Palissandro Collection is a collection of textured bags & covers.

The 2nd member of this collection is the ‘Palissandro Totebag’, a beautiful textured totebag, where stripes in an easy colourwork pattern alter with stripes in a textured stitch pattern.

Where does the name come from?

Steered by a 15-year career as an interior architect, I am constantly influenced by seeing beautiful (natural) materials and textures. Natural stone such as marble is 1 of those materials that never ceases to amaze, due to its infinite variations in colour and texture. Palissandro marble is one such example and has served as one of many inspiration sources for this collection with it’s stunning mixture of colours & lines. I’ve come a long way already, making lots of different samples for this collection, but I was never really 100% convinced. Now, I feel I’ve finally landed with this combination of colourwork & texture. A perfect match if you ask me.

That said, this project is absolutely perfect to use up your scrap yarn (because every knitter in the world has a box of leftover yarn that desperately needs attention). I will add a formula at the end of this pattern with which you can calculate the necessary number of stitches/rounds to match your own obtained gauge in case you would be using a different type of yarn or needle size.

As mentioned, the Palissandro Totebag is the 2nd member of this collection.

There is already a Purse available. But, you can expect many more items in the near future, such as a totebag, a shopper, a little zipper pouch, ... The possibilities are endless :)

Size:

One size: 35 cm (width) x 39 cm (height) x 1 cm (depth)

13.75 inches (width) x 15.25 inches (height) x 0.5 inches (depth)

Sizes are easily adjusted to your own preference.

All the instructions in this pattern are given for the size above and the gauge as specified below. However, you could adjust the size to your own wishes by adding stitches/rounds. If you would want to work with a different gauge, you can easily calculate the necessary number of stitches by using a formula (see ‘instructions at the end of the pattern’). NOTE: for the border, you always need an EVEN number of stitches. Once you start working the ‘body’ of the purse, you need to decrease 1 stitch so you have an ODD number of stitches.

Needles:

Circular needles 4 mm / cable 60 cm  [US 6  / cable 24 inches]

Extra set of needles 4 mm [US 6] for the 3 needle bind off

Gauge: border in colourwork stockinette stitch 1k x 1k :

10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] = 26 st x 33 rows
